Morning meeting is an important part of our day in K5! We start the day by meeting together, and the first part of our meeting always involves greeting one another. The students are learning important life skills like looking a person in the eye, saying "hello" or "good morning," and discovering how communication is a two-way street.
We like to have fun with our greetings. Sometimes we speak like pirates, other times we throw paper snowballs at each other or roll a sight word ball to each classmate. Recently, we had a little fun by pretending to ice skate! When it was their turn, each child got to "skate" around the circle by sliding on paper plates. Talk about simple and fun! After each completed the circle, we greeted the skater, and he or she skated over to a friend to give them a turn. The perfect winter greeting!
