Can you eat 100?

As a culmination of our 100th Day of School celebrations, we had two more activities -- one that involved working together and another that was a homework assignment of sorts. The homework assignment was for each child to bring in 100 of something ... anything.  It was great fun seeing the various items they brought in and the ways they presented their items.

100 kernels of rice, painted to look like a sunflower!

"In the beginning, God created heaven and earth" ... 100 stars in the sky, with a Bible verse!

Four jars, each with 25 coins!

Cute girl with 100 pom-poms!

Mrs. Viall loved that these 100 bees matched her classroom theme!

How cute is this poster, with the student  himself being lifted by 100 "balloons."

A cube made with 100 legos!

100 stickers!

A combination of 100 stars and beads ... a winding road leading to 100!

This was cool -- 10 sections of this box were divided with blocks spelling the student's name. Inside each section were 10 of a different item -- 10 erasers, 10 pennies, 10 lego pieces, etc. ... all adding up to 100!

And then there was this. The student told his mom he wanted to bring in 100 acorns, so she BUILT A TREE. From scratch! Using paper towel rolls, foam, and paint! Incredible! The acorns were bunched in groups of five, and there was even a stuffed squirrel in the tree!

Finally, we put together a special 100's snack. We assigned each student to bring in something small for a snack (goldfish, chocolate chips, etc.). Then we got out Mrs. Shepard's 100's placemats and counted out 10 of each small item.

Who knew kindergarten could be so fun, educational, and delicious!
